The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On · A Viewer’s Companion
This is not a family tree — it is a relationship map, because the whole show is one deliberate partner swap. Six couples arrive, one person in each has issued an ultimatum, and then everybody moves in with somebody else’s partner for three weeks before going back and deciding whether to marry. Gold ties show who arrived together, blue dashed ties show the trial marriages, and the pill on each gold tie is what that couple decided on screen.
The names are easy. The structure is what trips people up — everyone is described in relation to two different partners at once.
Six couples who disagree about marriage spend eight weeks in one place. In each couple, one partner has issued an ultimatum: marry me, or we are done. Week one, they all date each other’s partners. Then each person picks someone new and lives with them for three weeks — the trial marriage. Then three more weeks back with the original partner. Then Decision Day: marry, or move on. Nick and Vanessa Lachey host.
It is not a date and it is not a marriage. The two people move in together and live as a couple for three weeks — shared apartment, shared routine, the same domestic questions their real relationship has been stuck on. The point is to give each person a concrete comparison to bring back to their original partner. Nobody is legally married at any stage.
That is the whole reason the middle of the season is confusing. From episode three onward, everyone is being talked about in relation to two different people — the partner they arrived with and the partner they are living with at that point in the season. On this chart the gold tie is the first one and the blue dashed tie is the second, so any card can be read both ways at once.
This season the picks happened to fold into two self-contained foursomes. Blake and Hayley swapped with Ashley and Killian; Casey and David swapped with Monica and Luke. Nobody crossed between the two groups. That is why the chart shows two tidy crosses instead of one web — and it is worth knowing, because it means half the cast never shared a trial marriage with the other half.
Only four of the six couples reached Decision Day, because two left in episode three. All four of those couples left engaged, and so did the couple who exited early after an early proposal — five engagements out of six couples. This page records the on-screen decision and nothing after it.
Who arrived with whom, who picked whom, and the two names that get mixed up.
Blake issued the ultimatum. In the trial marriages Blake paired with Ashley and Hayley paired with Killian. On Decision Day the two of them got engaged.
Ashley issued the ultimatum. She paired with Blake for the trial marriage; Killian paired with Hayley. On Decision Day they got engaged.
Casey issued the ultimatum. She paired with Luke for the trial marriage; David paired with Monica. On Decision Day they got engaged.
Luke issued the ultimatum. He paired with Casey for the trial marriage; Monica paired with David. On Decision Day they got engaged.
Jessica Grace issued the ultimatum. They never did a trial marriage — Edris proposed in episode three, before the picks were made, and the pair left the experiment engaged.
Alex issued the ultimatum. They also never reached the trial marriages: Jebin was asked to leave in episode three for trying to pass Alex a note off camera, and Alex left with him.
Two A-names, and both are the partner who issued the ultimatum — so a sentence like “she gave him the ultimatum” fits either one. Alex is gone by episode three; Ashley is in the chart’s first swap group all season.
Both are C/K names in the middle of the swaps, and both appear in a trial marriage with someone whose name starts with the same letter as their own partner’s. Casey is in swap group two (with David, Monica and Luke); Killian is in swap group one (with Ashley, Blake and Hayley).
Charts season four of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On (Netflix, 2026) — the first eight episodes were released on 15 July 2026 and the finale and reunion followed on 22 July 2026. Season four was filmed in Las Vegas and hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey. Everything on this page is what aired during that season: who arrived together, who issued the ultimatum, who paired with whom for the trial marriage, and what each couple decided on Decision Day. The page deliberately stops at the finale. It does not report anyone’s current relationship status, and it takes no side in anything that happened on screen — these are real people, described only by their role in the format. Netflix also made a sibling series, The Ultimatum: Queer Love, with an entirely separate cast; it is not charted here.
