The Summer I Turned Pretty · A Viewer's Companion
Nobody here is related the way you'd guess. The Conklins and the Fishers aren't family — they're two households who have shared one house at Cousins Beach every summer since the kids were babies, because their mothers are best friends. Everyone calls everyone by nicknames, the three seasons cover six years, and the two Fisher boys are the whole plot. Blue borders are Conklins, coral borders are Susannah's side, sea‑green is everyone else on the beach — and every gold line is a couple.
Spoiler-safe mode is on: death markers, secret-reveal labels and finale outcomes are hidden on this chart and in the notes below. Use the “Spoilers” button in the top bar to show everything again.
None of the five kids are related to each other. It is two households, one house, and a friendship between two mothers that everything else hangs off.
Laurel Park and Susannah Fisher have been best friends since college. Every June, Laurel drives her two kids — Steven and Belly — to Susannah's beach house at Cousins, where Susannah's two boys, Conrad and Jeremiah, are waiting. The fathers barely come. That's the entire premise: five kids' worth of history in one house, and no blood between the two families at all.
Conrad (Christopher Briney) is the older one: quiet, clenched, pre‑med, the boy Belly has had a crush on since she was twelve. Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) is the younger one: blond curls, the life of every party, Belly's actual best friend for years before he was anything else. If you can only remember one tell — Jeremiah is the one who smiles.
Laurel (Jackie Chung) is Belly and Steven's mother, a novelist, divorced from John a year before the show starts — though the two of them are quietly circling each other again by Season 3. Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) is Conrad and Jeremiah's mother, a painter, married to Adam — though they have separated by the time we meet them. Susannah's breast cancer, which she beat once and which comes back, is the engine of the whole series: she dies between Seasons 1 and 2, and Season 2 opens into the hole she leaves.
Susannah was born a Beck — the house is even called Beck's Beach House — so when she is gone, it passes to her estranged half‑sister Julia (Kyra Sedgwick), who turns up with her teenager Skye and a realtor. The boys' summer becomes a siege to stop the sale. Laurel talks Julia round in the end, and Julia sells to Adam instead, so the house stays in the family after all.
Season 3 jumps four years. Belly and Jeremiah are together at college; in the premiere she learns he slept with someone in Cabo during a break; by the end of episode 2 she has forgiven him and he has proposed. Cousins fills up with a wedding. Then Conrad tells her, the night before, that he still loves her — and on the day, Belly and Jeremiah call it off themselves. She gets on a plane to Paris alone.
A year passes. Conrad writes letters from California; Belly writes back. In the finale, At Last, he turns up in Paris for her 22nd birthday, and after one wobble she runs after him at the train: Belly chooses Conrad. Jeremiah ends up with his Breaker Capital colleague Denise Russo, and Steven and Taylor — on‑and‑off all series — land together for good.
Everyone is called something other than their name, and two separate characters are called Denise. Keep these apart:
She is Isabel Conklin. “Belly” is a baby‑brother mangling of Isabel that never wore off. Her middle name is Susannah, after her mother's best friend — which tells you most of what you need to know about these two families.
Brothers, both Fishers. Conrad = the older, darker, silent one (Christopher Briney), studying medicine at Stanford. Jeremiah = the younger one with the blond curls (Gavin Casalegno), bisexual, sunny, at Finch College with Belly.
Laurel Park → Belly and Steven. Susannah Fisher → Conrad and Jeremiah. Susannah calls Laurel “Laur”; Laurel calls Susannah “Beck.” They are not related; they just raised five children in the same house every July.
The two fathers, both mostly absent. John Conklin (Colin Ferguson) is a history professor and Laurel's ex‑husband. Adam Fisher (Tom Everett Scott) is a founding partner of Breaker Capital and Susannah's estranged husband — the boys' dad.
Denise Russo (Isabella Briggs) is a Season 3 character: the senior associate at Breaker Capital who spars with Steven and rooms with Jeremiah. Denise (Yvonne Valadez) is a Season 2 walk‑on: Cam's mother, who manages the country club restaurant. No relation.
Not Fishers. Julia is Susannah's half‑sister on their father's side; Skye (they/them) is Julia's teenager and therefore Conrad and Jeremiah's cousin. Both appear in Season 2 only, and both are inventions of the show — neither exists in Jenny Han's novels.
His name is just Cam — short for Cameron. The double name is a jab from Jeremiah in the pilot that the show never let go of. A Cousins local, aspiring marine biologist, and Belly's first boyfriend, in Season 1.
Taylor Jewel is Belly's best friend from home, there since childhood, on and off with Steven. Nicole Richardson is a Cousins girl: Belly's assigned “big sister” at the debutante ball, and Conrad's summer hookup before that.
The thing that detonates the final season: while Belly and Jeremiah were briefly broken up, he hooked up with Lacie Barone on a spring‑break trip to Cabo. Belly finds out in the premiere — and Conrad finds out the night before the wedding.

Steven's Season 1 girlfriend and one of the Cousins debutantes who take Belly in for a summer.

Belly's college roommate and dancer friend in Season 3 — the one piece of her life that has nothing to do with Cousins.

Conrad's fellow medical student at Stanford and his confidante on the West Coast — the person he says Belly's name to first.

Jeremiah's fraternity brother at Finch and permanent hype man, in every Season 3 party scene.
Scope: all three seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty (Prime Video, 2022–2025), through the series finale At Last, which aired September 17, 2025 — spoilers to there.
