Reality television has no bloodlines, so this chart maps the only structure the show really has: how far each man got. Season 21 opens with Jenn Tran and twenty-five suitors, and narrows every week — rose ceremony by rose ceremony — to four hometowns, three fantasy suites, a final two and a proposal. Read it top to bottom: orchid is Jenn, brass is the final two, violet is the men who reached hometowns and fantasy suites, and lilac is everyone eliminated before that. The gold line runs from Jenn to the man she chose.
Four things that make the season legible
The show runs on a fixed structure. Once you know the shape of a season, any season of it — including this one — reads at a glance.
The weekly narrowing
Twenty-five men arrive on night one; one gets the first impression rose. Each week brings one-on-one dates, group dates and a rose ceremony, and each ceremony sends someone home. Week 7 is hometowns — the final four take Jenn to meet their families. Week 8 is fantasy suites, for the final three. Then a final two, and a proposal. This season travelled from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Auckland, Seattle and Hawaii.
Where a Bachelorette comes from
Almost always from the previous season of the parent show: a well-liked contestant who did not win is promoted to lead. Jenn appeared on Joey Graziadei's season 28 of The Bachelor and was announced as the next Bachelorette on that season's After the Final Rose. Her season-28 castmates Daisy Kent and Maria Georgas were also considered for the job.
Hometowns, then Hawaii
The week 6 ceremony in Seattle left four men: Devin, Jonathon, Marcus and Jeremy. Jenn visited all four families; Jeremy went home after hometowns. The remaining three flew to Hawaii for fantasy suites, where Jonathon's season ended — leaving Devin and Marcus as the final two.
How it ended on screen
The finale aired live-to-tape on 3 September 2024. Of the final two, Jenn chose Devin Strader — and proposed to him herself, the first Bachelorette to propose in the franchise's history, with a Neil Lane ring. That is where this chart stops: it records the season as broadcast and says nothing about anyone's life afterwards.
Where the men go from here
A strong showing is its own audition. Grant Ellis was announced as the next lead of The Bachelor the same night his elimination aired. Seven more — Brian, Hakeem, Jeremy, Jonathon, Ricky, Sam McKinney and Spencer — were cast on season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise, the spin-off where rejected contestants meet each other on a beach.
Why season 21
Because it is the most recent season of The Bachelorette to have run to a finale. A twenty-second season was announced and did not go to air, so Jenn's is still the last completed run — and the one a viewer catching up will actually find.
Names people mix up
Two Sams, a Thomas and a Tomas, a John and a Jonathon. The show's own on-screen captions used initials for a reason.
Sam M. vs. Sam N.
Sam McKinney (27, Myrtle Beach) took the first impression rose on night one and lasted to week 6. Sam Nejad (25, Carlsbad) went home in week 4. The captions called them Sam M. and Sam N. all season.
Thomas N. vs. Tomas A.
One letter apart. Thomas Nguyen, a retirement adviser from Georgia, left in week 4; Tomas Azzano, a physiotherapist from Toronto, left in week 3.
John vs. Jonathon
John Mitchell, a medical student, went home in week 4. Jonathon Johnson, a creative director, made the final three — and note the spelling: Jonathon.
Marcus vs. Marvin
Marcus Shoberg, the Army Ranger veteran, was the runner-up. Marvin Goodly, the luxury event planner, was eliminated in week 2.
Devin vs. Dylan
Devin Strader received the final rose. Dylan Buckor, the youngest man of the season at 24, was eliminated in week 5.
Aaron Erb vs. Noah Erb
Aaron Erb is the twin brother of Noah Erb, from season 16 of this show and season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise. Different seasons, same face. Aaron left in week 3.
“Moze,” not Caleb
Caleb Smith went by Moze from the moment he stepped out of the limo, and the show captioned him that way. He was eliminated on night one.
Grant Ellis, twice over
He appears here as a contestant eliminated in week 6 — and again, on the sibling page, as the lead of the season that followed. Same man, two charts.

Jesse Palmer
Runs the rose ceremonies, the Men Tell All and the live finale. He was himself the Bachelor once, on season 5 of the parent show, long before he took the microphone.
Joey Graziadei
The lead of the season Jenn came from. Her elimination on his season is the reason she was in the room when the next Bachelorette was named.
Daisy Kent
A season-28 castmate who was also considered for the lead role before Jenn was announced.
Maria Georgas
The other season-28 castmate in contention for the job. The Bachelorette is chosen from a very small pool.
